Not perfect, but charming none

I have to say I like this. The animation of the original characters is good, and even though the direction isn't the exact match of a fighting game, it was pretty close. The use of Mega Man X2 music and a Chrono Cross remix is great. And I loved the credits.

One of the best Flash movies to grace this site.

I can completely understand what you mean by being unfairly banned.

I've been called various names that would not be permitted to mention on a Newgrounds review, flamed, trolled, had my sites hacked, my picture ruthlessly mocked, and confidential information posted in threads, then after all these events, I end up being banned or forced out. I will mention that *none* of this was on Newgrounds, so I don't want someone reading this review to get the wrong impression. I understand that feeling you express all too well.

I wish I could animate, act, and direct something as well as you could. But your Flash has a universal appeal beyond your specific situation. It appeals to all of us who were unfairly marginalized simply because we thought something was wrong and spoke up.

Thank you for making this.

Great Punchout Flash!

This a great tribute, with hilarious extras. The only thing I can say to improve on it to make sure that the tweens are a little smoother. They're smooth, but there are times where I see a sprite "jump" where it shouldn't. But that's a minor detail. Everything else is so good about this piece that I can overlook it.

And the best thing of all...No NSMB!

Well, thank you very much. I'm glad you liked it.

That poor tomato...

This piece is composed very well. It's drawn well, animated well, sounds wonderful (with good voice acting) and is timed well. Plus I'm a sucker for vegetables in Flash.

The only problem is the joke, while rxecuted very well, wasn't all that great. Since the Flash is so short, that does limit what could have been a remarkable piece, but it's still very good.

A Good Effort

Pixel art is harder than a lot of people realize, so despite this being short, it was well put together. If only you had a few more frames of animation, this would have been brilliant, but I got the point of the advertisement very well.

Wiiii.....

A disappointing entr yto say the least...

I don't be begrudge your right to make money off something that you did not provide for free. If, for instance, you had created a book that "extended" the Xombie series, I would not complain. If you created a book to conclude the Xombie series and no Flash to correspond with this conclusion, then I could understand and be thankful of the episodes that we have seen. But to release an actual episode of the Xombie series to tell people to buy the book is just disgraceful.

To be sure this episode is well animated (most ntoably at the end, during the "by the book" spiel), the direction is good, and the sound in both mixture and composition is superb. This piece is not without merit, and work was done on it, so I can't in conscience give this anything less the score I've given it. Xombie: Chapter 9 is far better than most of the entries that are submitted to Newgrounds on a daily basis. However, for someone of your caliber, this piece is far below your standard of excellence.

This entry is against everything Newgrounds is about. Newgrounds is a Flash portal for animation, games, and music made by amateurs who seek to further their skills and share their work. Although people promote their sites and their other work through their Flash movies, flat out advertisements such as this are discouraged. Calling this a chapter of a series that as been so excellently written, crafted, and paced is a disservice not only to yourself, your work, or even your fans, but to Newgrounds itself for showcasing your blatant grab for money. What you have done is no better the false labeling some Flash artists use to get the TOTW award. Actually, it's worse. I usually can see through those attempts at gathering my protection vote. I was fooled by this one. No more...

Excellent work!

This is a Flash movie that takes political jabs, is funny, well acted, had good sound and is well animated.

The fact that you used frame-by-frame in many areas where many others would have tweened the action makes the animation of this piece visually wonderful. You didn't just draw beautiful figures then tween their movements, nor did you create a piece that was too reliant on FBF. I love the style because it is a perfect blend of FBF and tweening, not too much of one or the other.

My only complaint is that the pace was just a little slow, but that's a very minor detraction. This is wonderful.

Aw....

At first I wasn't sure if I'd like this Flash, despite the frame-by-frame, but the cute Silver Surfer won me over, and I don't even particularly care for the character.

This is very well done. The only thing that would have made it better is if it had been a tad longer, so you could have included a few more well-known superheroes.

Now I want a cute Silver Surfer doll! And a Punisher doll!

Okay...

This is a decent stick fight with fluid animation, but in no way is this frame by frame. Every action looks tweened, just at a higher frame rate than normal. Also, while I liked the idea that the background was able to be damaged, there's not much of a background to begin with.

You sound is sharp, though. I'll give you that. But don't claim something as frame by frame when it clearly isn't.

The Perfect Movie

I didn't think it was possible to top the last one...but you did. What I love best is that you didn't chicken out of a potentially chaotic 3-way battle by having the Axem Rangers and the Koopa Bros. team up against Mario or having the villains battling each other, but instead had all three parties in a fight where all three were in a true "hate" triangle. Then again, there were so many strokes of genius, including making MMZ style Axem Rangers, that I could simply go on and on. This combines the ambition in Episode 3, the execution of Episode 4, and raises it even higher. That's not to forget the exceptional music (I like how you used the same tune for the three way battle as used in Rockman Neo.) and the wonderful menus you've provided.

What's your secret for making Flash movies that improve on perfection?

There's nothing to say, except that I like watching Flash movies on Newgrounds.
