That's a good way to judge movies and games here, maybe the best one. It's important to see what the author meant before being impressed with well drawn graphics or great musics. But actually I have random tastes: sometimes I vote 5 just because of a music or vote low because of crapness.
There's nothing to say, except that I like watching Flash movies on Newgrounds.

Thank you for commenting. Sometimes, I don't live up to even my own ideals, and I certainly have biases of my own. At times, I will vote in ways that contradict what I've written.
I have voted Flash movies higher than their visuals would indicate because of excellent sound, and other movies lower than what is the common perception of their worth because I hate their messages (or lack thereof).

It's a good way to judge stuff. I always look for that certain quality and effort that shines through beyond artistic skill. I do demand good voice quality, though... Poor audio quality ruins a lot of great amateur Flash. Some things I look for:
1) Good audio quality and voice work.
2) Gets to the point quickly (or gives an incentive to keep watching) and avoids drawn out intros.
Anything that does those two things already has an advantage over everything else.

Now that I look at my post, though, it does seem condescending. I have my own preferences, faults, and biases just like everyone else. But people have a right to their own opinions and votes, and my personal guidelines aren't the same as everyone else.
